Freelancing Is Real — and It's Growing in Nagaland
When people think of freelancing, they imagine someone in a big city café with a laptop. But in 2026, that image is outdated. Our graduates are landing freelance projects from their homes in Dimapur, Kohima, and Mokokchung — billing clients in Delhi, Mumbai, and beyond.
Here are three real stories (names changed for privacy) from the last two instudia cohorts.
Story 1 — The Graphic Designer
After completing our 3-month Graphic Design course, one graduate started uploading her work to Instagram. Within six weeks, she had her first paid logo project — ₹4,500 from a Dimapur fashion label. Six months later, she's averaging ₹25,000–₹35,000/month from design work alone.
Her advice: 'Post every project, even the ones from class. Clients can't hire what they can't see.'
Story 2 — The Tally Accountant
A graduate from our Tally + GST batch now manages the books for four local businesses. He started by offering GST filing help to a small grocery shop for ₹1,500/month. Word spread, and he now earns ₹22,000/month working part-time across a few clients.
The most in-demand service? Monthly GST return filing — fast, predictable, and every business needs it.
Story 3 — The Digital Marketer
A graduate from our digital marketing cohort manages Instagram and WhatsApp campaigns for a local food brand and a coaching institute. She handles content creation, scheduling, and weekly analytics reports — all remotely, all from Dimapur.
Her retainer: ₹8,000/client/month. With two clients, she earns more than most entry-level office jobs — and sets her own schedule.
The Common Thread
All three started by doing one small project, doing it well, and then asking for a testimonial. None of them waited until they felt 'ready'. If you're in one of our courses right now — start looking for your first project before you graduate.
